Research and Interpretation

Research and interpretation is guided by the principle that advancing an understanding of New Mexico’s history and culture is the fundamental objective of the Office of the State Historian. As New Mexico's leading advocate and authority on matters relating to the interpretation of New Mexico History, the Office of the State Historian is responsible for conducting comprehensive research and supporting scholarly and community-based research. The New Mexico History Scholars Program, which supports research fellowships at the State Records Center and Archives.
