Training Description

**FREE to high school and college students** This session will include a general introduction to the topic; making the case for the preservation of family photographs and negatives; problems that can arise with improper storage; ways to mitigate the damage as well as basic techniques to carry out archival quality preservation of family photographs. Presenter Sibel Melik, an experienced archivist and expert in the field of digital and film archiving, brings this knowledge to the workshop. Ms. Melik has made a national name for herself in the field of film and digital archiving, preserving and preparing historic films for presentation at the Violet Crown Theatre, in Santa Fe, and elsewhere. Sessions 3 & 4 will be held Friday, May 4, 2018, in the Commons Room at the Institute of American Indian Arts, 83 Avan Nu Po Road, Santa Fe, NM
